DCL is working closely with the East Thames Group and the tenants of New Union Wharf, Isle of Dogs to carry out an Option Appraisal to help tenants decide on the future of their estate.
DCL is delighted to have assisted in the UK’s first second stage transfers of homes from Europe’s largest social housing landlord to four community-based Housing Associations.
The process saw Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) transfer nearly 1700 homes to local communities in Ardenglen, Cassiltoun, Parkhead and Shettleston. The transfer took place just 16 weeks after tenants voted in local ballots in support of the transfer and reflects GHA’s strategy of empowering local communities with responsibility to manage their own housing stock.
Working as part of GHA’s own Secondary Transfer Team, DCL provided project management services, advised on the implications of the transfers for owners receiving factoring services, and co-ordinated the preparation of energy performance certificates for transferring assets.
Peter Docherty, DCL’s Managing Director said: “This is an exciting project as it sets the benchmark for the future transfer of other homes to local communities in Glasgow. We are delighted to be able to contribute to its success.
DCL continue to work with Dunedin Canmore Housing Association on the regeneration of the Moredun and Hyvots area of Edinburgh, a mixed-tenure 1960’s estate. Much of the work has been carried out under the Tenement
(Scotland) Act 2004 and through individual legal agreements and one to one negotiations with each of the private owners.
DCL continue to work with East Thames Group in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, acting as a lead negotiator and point of contact with tenants who are being permanently relocated from larger family homes. DCL has undertaken a review of all household needs and is working closely with tenants advising them of their housing options, and looking to secure suitable offers of accommodation for all households.
